Shirley L. Pounds, 83, returned to Jesus, and the angels welcomed her to heaven. She passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 15, 1937, in Morgantown, the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Ermina Bise.
She attended University High School and graduated in 1957. She was employed by Mylan Pharmaceuticals for 27 and a half years. Shirley previously attended Fresh Harvest Assembly of God Church.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Anita (Ray) Wolfe Zybell, Bonnie (Perry ) Perine and Donna Mayle; grandchildren, Heather Belanger, Perry “P.J.” (Jessica) Perine, Crystal Wolfe, Jon (Leah) Perine and Adam (Samantha) Mayle; great-grandchildren, Savanna (Dan) and Sahara Belanger, Hayle, Nevaeh and Isaiah Perine, Orien Pyles, Vella Guthrie and Raelynn Perine; great-great-grandson, Aiden Mihal; and her sisters, Emma Jean McGee, Joanna Tennant and Eileen (Marvin) Mills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Dewey E. Pounds; daughter, Clara J. Pounds; son-in-law, Bliss Mayle; brother, Clarence Bise; and sisters, Louise Dupree, Arlayne Wingeir and Madalean Porupski.
Shirley’s family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice for their loving care and support.
Visitation will be held at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from noon Wednesday, June 2, until the time of services at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Nathan Goodin and Chaplain Wendy Browne officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest beside her husband at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
