Janis Patton Yeager, 66, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Friday May 21, 2021, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born May 26, 1954, in Jeannette, Pa. to the late Jesse and Shirley Patton.
Janis was one smart cookie, earning her associate degree from Fairmont State University and later a bachelor’s degree in nursing from California University of Pennsylvania. She showed compassion, optimism, and kindness for her patients while working as a registered nurse at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital for many years. Her nursing skills were never off duty, as she often diagnosed and offered support to family and friends with health concerns.
Janis was the sweetest, kindest, most loving soul and a joy to be around. She was living a healthy lifestyle, walking, lifting weights and eating her protein. Janis loved planting flowers, gardening, cooking, watching all WVU sports and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders reality show on TV. Most recently, she reconnected with her childhood friends and made some new friends in Myrtle Beach, S.C.,learning to shag and line-dance. During the summer months, Janis enjoyed spending time in her pool and everyone was invited to swim.
Our family was not expecting the loss of Janis, Mom, wife, Auntie Janny, friend; or for her life to be cut so short. We are devastated by this loss and will feel the absence of her in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her beloved husband Robert “Bob” Yeager; son Patrick Yeager, of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Morgan Marinucci and husband Paul, of Anchorage, Alaska; stepson, Brian Yeager, of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandchild, Venice Marinucci; brother, Jon Patton; sister, Nancy Drazdik and husband Andy, favorite nephew, Andrew Drazdik, all of Jeannette, Pa.; her favorite niece, Julie Drazdik and husband Doug, of Charlotte, N.C.; and her doggie, Journey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse R. Patton; nephew, Jesse T. Patton; and her best friend Charlene Earle.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Thursday May 27, and again from 10 a.m., Friday, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Estep officiating. Following the service, Janis’ wishes for cremation will be honored.
