In the early morning hours of April 26, 2021, the beloved matriarch of our family, Catherine Virginia Renstrom, née Asif, 96,died. Catherine grew up in Uniontown, Pa., before moving to Morgantown, attending Morgantown High School and graduating in 1943.
Catherine loved sharing her Lebanese heritage with her family and attending the Lebanese festival at the Maronite Church in Uniontown, Pa. She raised two children, Donald and Donna, with her husband, Albert “Swede” Renstrom, and loved playing cards and Scrabble with her six grandchildren. Though unanimously described as “tough,” she loved her family with true selflessness, and will be missed tremendously.
Catherine is survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Anderegg (Charles); her children, Donald Renstrom (Susan) and Donna Darby; her grandchildren, Erica Solliday (Christian), Lora Wagner (Scott), Matthew Renstrom (Eliza), Erin Dubrow (Brian), Amanda Darby and Thomas David Darby Jr; and her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Ciara, Jackson, Kennedy and Victoria.
