On Tuesday, Morgantown Utility Board will transition from the current customer online portal to a new system called Paymentus. The changeover will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue into the evening until completed.
During this time, customer records will be unavailable. The transition is expected to take two hours; however, that timeline is based on the successful completion of various tasks.
When the transition is complete, customers using MUB’s online payment portal will receive an email with a temporary password along with a link to Paymentus. Customers can then log into Paymentus with their email address and temporary password. Once logged in, customers can reset invoicing preferences and billing information such as credit or debit card or ACH/eCheck.
Those customers who have not made the transition to online account management will not be impacted; however, all customers are encouraged to register for online access.
“There are so many benefits to using the customer portal. From auto-pay and email and text message notifications, to accessing your account information 24/7 on any device, Paymentus is worth the time to set up an account,” said MUB Director of Communications Chris Dale. “It can save you time and help avoid late fees.”
The new Paymentus features include an improved user experience; a “Pay Now” feature that allows for quick payment without having to register an account; and registered account enhancements, including view and pay multiple accounts at once, view payment history and consumption information, and view past billing statements. Payments can be made via credit, debit, and ACH/eCheck.
Registered customers can also securely save payment information, the option of signing up for paperless billing with email reminders and the opportunity to schedule automatic payments.
Another benefit is the ability to pay early.
“Customers can now pay on their accounts at any time,” Dale said. “This is terrific benefit to those on fixed incomes, parents of students, or those who simply need to get ahead prior to vacations. For example, if you access the customer portal and pay $50 outside your billing cycle, that amount will be applied to your next bill. This is a terrific plus when it comes to budgeting.”
Dale said Paymentus is the result of listening to customers.
“Customers were clear in that they wanted increased flexibility, accessibility, convenience and a more user-friendly experience without sacrificing security. Paymentus is our answer,” he said. “This change reflects our commitment to providing a superior customer service experience.”
