Norma Hawley

Norma June Hawley, 91, (nee Ruggles) passed away in Baltimore, on April 8, 2021.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1929 and raised in Tunnelton.

“June” relocated to Baltimore with her husband and son due to her husband’s work with B&O Railroad. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Maryland Institute College of Art and was an active member of Sexton United Methodist Church. Much of her heart remained in West Virginia, and she made frequent visits to her family in Tunnelton throughout her life.

June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting throughout her life. Later in life she was a devoted caregiver to her husband for many years.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Jamie and Pam Hawley; her great-granddaughter, Jordyn Gittleson; her great-great grandson, Brady James Gittleson; and her brother Hugh Ruggles. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Prentis Hawley; her son, James Robert Hawley; her daughter-in-law, Sabina Hawley; her father, Norman Ruggles; her mother, Katie Sanders Ruggles; her brothers, Darrell Ruggles, Wade Ruggles and Frank Ruggles; and her sister, Alma Burrows.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Browning Funeral Home 201 E. Main St., Kingwood WV 26537 from noon-2 p.m., the funeral hour, Saturday April 17, with Pastor Kevin Keplinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Shaw Cemetery.

During the visitation and funeral social distancing will be observed and masks are required.
