Betty Jane Sodomick, 94, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Ky., on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Betty (Mom, Grandma and Mommer) was born May 31, 1926, in Morgantown. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Walter Sodomick; her mother, Mabel Rice Menear Graham; stepfather, Jesse Graham; father, Charles Menear; sons, Larry D. Sodomick and David W. Sodomick; sister, Marjorie Ferguson; great-granddaughter, Quinn Prince; and step-grandson, Gary Cozart.
She has joint membership at Bethel United Methodist Church in Mt. Washington, Ky. and Brookhaven United Methodist Church in Morgantown. She attended Morgantown High School. She was employed at Laidley & Selby, G,C, Murphys and the Monongalia County Board of Education. She also helped start the Brookhaven Teenage Club.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Debby J. Sodomick and Becky K. (Steve) Prince, of Louisville, Ky., and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Sodomick, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Michael Sodomick, Laura (Jerry) Painter, Brandon Sodomick, Karen Sodomick, Nicole (Emmett) Blevins, Justin (Sarah) Prince, Ben Prince and Natalia (Tony) Sandlin; step-grandchildren, Mike (Theresa) Cozart and Kevin (Charlotte) Cozart; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (William) Van Gilder; and many nieces and nephews.
She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 8 and again from 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 9 with funeral services following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Janice Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
