West Virginia native, Caleb Bronc Briggs, 36, passed away March 16, 2021, with his wife, Autumn Marie Summers, by his side at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Caleb was born Feb. 24, 1985, in Wheeling, to Thomas Anthony Briggs and Brenda Sue Murphy. During his youth, Caleb became an Eagle Scout, which fostered his love for nature and desire to help others. He earned a culinary arts degree and had a passion for cooking, wine/mead making and testing recipes. Caleb worked hard to provide for himself and his family through his career as a personal banker, but he dreamed of one day owning an apiary so that he could raise and care for bees.
Caleb had a lighthearted demeanor and a quick wit accompanied by a mischievous smile. He never missed an opportunity to slip some silly humor into conversation. Caleb understood what was important in life and loved spending quality time with his friends and family. He enjoyed going into the great outdoors; kayaking on serene rivers and lakes, exploring and hiking trails in the hills of West Virginia and surrounding areas and building bonfires and hammock-camping under the starlit skies. Caleb had a fondness for video games that involved strategy, design, building and problem-solving.
Caleb’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His memory will live on through the stories we share, the laughter he’s given us, and our connection with each other.
Caleb is survived by his wife, Autumn Summers; maternal grandmother, Ruth Murphy; father, Thomas Briggs and mother, Brenda Briggs, of Cameron; siblings and their spouses, Andrew and Maxcine Briggs, of Wheeling, Rebekah and Caleb Yeates, of Ozark, Mo., and Abby Briggs, of Moundsville; along with several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life services will be held at Ross Funeral Home located at 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, and at the Blue and Gold Christian Center located at 7 Church St., Cameron, at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 11.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to any conservation organization or a charity that is near and dear to your heart.
