Muriel Millstone

Muriel Z. Millstone, 83, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Burton and Pearl Zilber, of Uniontown, Pa. She was the youngest of six siblings: Julian Zilber, Bea Nelson, Norma Lee, Sheldon Zilber and Rita Brown, who all preceded her in death.
She married Bennett Millstone on Feb 25, 1962 and just celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary. She was the mother to Paula Millstone, of Morgantown, and Godfrey Millstone and spouse Jennifer (Vincent) Millstone, of Morgantown, and doting grandmother to Ian and Carson Millstone.

She was a member of Tree of Life Synagogue, Hadassah and Sisterhood. She graduated from Tridelphia High School in Wheeling. Muriel worked alongside her husband at Morgantown Travel Service for over 30 years. While working there, she developed a love of traveling, especially cruising. While on these adventures, she loved meeting new people, playing cards and savored a competitive round of trivia.

Muriel continued her love of games doing crossword puzzles and beating the rest of the family at Scrabble. She was a formidable Jeopardy at-home competitor. Those who knew her, admired her sharp wit and biting sense of humor.

Muriel was passionate about children and helping others in the community, and most recently volunteered with Meals on Wheels along with her husband and multiple food banks. For many years she served on committees for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, local soup kitchens and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and Rosenbaum House.

Muriel loved animals, although she was highly allergic. Now, we know she will spend her resting days cuddling with puppies and kittens that she has never before been able to enjoy.

In lieu of flowers please donate in Muriel’s memory to one of her passions or one of your local charities, particularly food banks.

There will be no public services. Caring services are provided by Dering-Henson Funeral Home.
