Deloris Howell

Deloris Jane (Austin) Howell, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Stonerise, Morgantown. She was born on Nov. 9, 1936, the youngest and last surviving child of the late Charles Andrew and Etta Jane (Costello) Austin.

Deloris was a Methodist by faith and a member of the South Pointe Methodist Church. Deloris was employed by Vincent Pallotti Hospital and Mon Health Medical Center until retirement.

Her greatest joys in life were spending time with and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and other various hobbies.

Deloris is survived by her grandchildren, Amy Yerkovich, of McHenry, Md., Andrew Yerkovich, and wife Julie, of Dilliner, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Drew Talbott, Allison Yerkovich and Mia Butler; son-in-law, Andrew Yerkovich Jr., and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Moser Junior Howell; daughter, Donna Jane Yerkovich; two great-grandchildren, Robby Butler and Savannah Butler; siblings, Charles H. “Pete” Austin, James “Boots” Austin, R. Ralph Austin, Claude Austin, Kenneth Austin, Francis Grimm, Virginia Strang, Geneva McCrobie, Betty Turner, Mary Pitch, Barbara Jean Sanders, Dortha Austin and Flossie Ferne Austin.

The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice, Amber Mutimer and the staff at Stonerise, Morgantown; two special friends, Karen Freeland and Sandy Davis; and her brother-in-law, Larry Howell and wife Donna.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, March 22 from 4-7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 23 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Halleck Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, all guests are asked to maintain social distancing and wear a mask.
