Terry DeVall

Terry Vaughn DeVall, 74,  passed away at home with his wife and kids by his side  Friday, March 19, 2021.

The son of the late Hoy Ernest DeVall and Belva Grace Titchnell DeVall, he was born June 8, 1946, on Beech Run Hill.

He began working in the coal mines at 17 and worked until 1994. He loved playing softball, camping at Moorefield and Elkins, fishing, hunting, making many woodwork items for family and friends and selling Christmas trees. He also enjoyed bus trips, events at the senior center and every conversation with his family and friends.

Terry is survived by his wife of 55 years and love of his life, Rose Durr DeVall; a son and his wife, Bradley and Jeanette DeVall, of Beverly; a daughter and her husband, Traci and Jimmy Sargent, of Albright; six grandchildren: Corey, Alexis and Austin DeVall, of Beverly, Tyler Shipp, of Elkins, and Amelia and Mason Sargent, of Albright; a great-grandchild, Jordan Shipp; sisters-in-law: June DeVall, Kathy (Vic) Selby, and Irene Durr; brothers-in-law, Danny and Timmy (Lisa) Durr; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his beloved sidekicks, RayRay and Lilly.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tami Ann DeVall, in 1977; four brothers and two sisters-in law: John, Bob (wife, Shirley), Bus and Bill (wife, Margaret); his father- and mother-in-law, Boots and Betty Durr; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Durr.

Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Monday from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday, March 23,  from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service, with Pastor Sonny McNair officiating. Burial will follow at  Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to WV Caring Hospice, P.O. Box 760, 519 G Rd., Arthurdale, WV, 26520, or to Preston Memorial Home Care, 410 E Main St., Kingwood, WV, 26537.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of everyone attending the gathering at the funeral home, visitors must wear a mask, practice social distancing and avoid lingering after paying their respects to Terry and his family.
