Charles Angelo “Charlie” Castelli, 78, of Maidsville, passed peacefully on Monday March 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born on Oct. 19, 1942, son of the late Orlando and Sarah O’Brad Castelli. He retired from Consolidation Coal Company after 40 years of service as a safety coordinator and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Charlie loved spending time on a tractor in his hayfields and taking walks with his dogs, Katie and Chloe. He most enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking and making osage orange recurve bows. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Star City and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra L. Castelli; six children, Charles A Castelli Jr., Billy K. Castelli (Kristy), Paula S. Jerrolds, Heather G. Layman, Erica L. Shrader (Carl) and Julie A Castelli; two sisters, Mary Fumich and Delores Rowan; one sister-in-law, Ellen Castelli; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Castelli, William Castelli, and Albert Castelli; sisters-in-law, Ruth Castelli and Antonio Castelli; and son Eddie Castelli.
Visitation will be held at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Star City from 1 p.m. Friday March 12 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Friar John McDonough as celebrant. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Morgantown Hospice with a special thanks to Karen Trump, RN, Melissa Estep, RN and Katie Goldizen, CNA.
