Nida Shaffer

Nida Louise Shaffer, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at the Pierpont Center in Fairmont. Nida was born in Morgantown on March 29, 1939. She was the loving daughter to Anna and Cecil P. “Paul” Lewis who preceded her in death.

Nida was a 1957 graduate of Morgantown High School. She worked in several places in the Morgantown area, including the Morgantown Glass Factory, West Viginia Gymnastics Training Center, formerly Gymorgantown School of Gymnastics, and Barry’s Office Service until finally retiring from Christopher & Banks at the age of 80.

Nida enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and maintained many lifelong relationships. Her hobbies included sewing, cake decorating, crafting and scrapbooking. She especially loved reading a good mystery novel.

Nida is survived by two daughters, Sandra Cripple and her husband Jay, of Bush, La., Shani Utter and husband Ernie, of Grafton; and four grandchildren, Samantha Utter, Megan Cripple, Alison Utter and Sean Cripple. Also surviving is one brother, Raymond Protzman and wife Polly, of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Visitation will be held at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, and again from noon on Wednesday until the time of services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Neil Leftwich officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens following the service.

All visitors and guests will be asked to properly wear a face covering, socially distance from other households and limit their time to no more than 15 minutes.
