William Franklin “Biff” Armstrong III, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, of a rare form of cancer.
Biff, son of William F. and Janet Spiker Armstrong, was born Oct. 17, 1962. Biff was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was never happier than when he was in the woods at the family cabin and collecting his prize-winning photos and videos from his trail cameras. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, where he served as elder.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan, and two children, Jenny Armstrong, of Elkins, and Bill Armstrong and wife Grace, of Morgantown,; his sister, Amy and husband Randy Snyder, of Kingwood; one niece, Rachel Rerek, of Arthurdale; and one nephew, Zane Rerek, of Chicago. He is also survived by his grandmother, Ruby Armstrong, of Kingwood.
Biff was a graduate of Central Preston High School Class of 1980 and held a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in computer science from Fairmont State University. He was employed by the Preston County Commission as network administrator.
Biff was a dedicated member of the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as president twice. For many years, he served the KVFD in the “meat room” in preparation for the Buckwheat Festival and volunteered at the monthly Fireman’s Breakfast.
Family and friends may be received at the Kingwood Community Building on Brown Avenue for a celebration of life and service from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., the service hour, Saturday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. James Riggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery.
