Dorothy Cosner

Dorothy Gwendoline Cosner, 83, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. She was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Maidsville daughter to Lonnie and Tessie Floyd Spicer.

Dorothy worked as a bartender at the Shriver Club, at Mon Pointe Continuing Care Center in dietary, Towers at WVU and the John Bennett Service Station. She most recently worked in the Lyon’s Den Convenient Store at WVU. Dorothy had a great sense of humor and was tough as nails when she needed to be. She faced adversity with dignity and grace. She will be missed by those who knew her best, her numerous extended family and adopted grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Edna Brown and husband David, with whom she made her home since 2006 in Cassville; son, Richard Cosner and wife Robin, of McCurdysville; son, Keith Conser and wife Darlene, of Pisgah; daughter, Cathy Coleman and husband Bill, of Altoona, Pa.; grandchildren, Haley and boyfriend Matt, Laciey and her fiancé Chaz, Trevor, Sean, Jennifer, Richard, Brittany and Shane; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion of nearly 30 years, Ernest Elli, in 2006; her grandchildren, Jeremy Cosner and Mya Brown; and her siblings, Delbert and Jack Spicer, Edna Yerkovich, Ivalou Moyers and Judy Jones.

Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, and again from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rich Schimansky officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.

All guests will be required to properly wear a face covering, socially distance from other households and limit their visiting time to no more than 15 minutes.
