Everett Harold Jefferys, 91, of Tunnelton, (Campground Road) passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sept. 21, 1929, in (Howesville) Tunnelton, son of the late June Harold Zugar and Mae Jefferys.
Everett served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a coal miner with 20 years of service and at the Preston County Department of Highway where he retired with 20 years of service. Everett enjoyed singing, mowing his grass, riding four-wheelers, bicycles and hunting ginseng.
He is survived by four sons, Randall Jefferys and Linda, of Tunnelton, Mark Jefferys, of Tunnelton, Roger Jeffreys and Debra ,of Morgantown, and Jason Jefferys, of Tunnelton; six grandchildren, Kevin Jefferys, of North Carolina, Susan Jefferys, of Tunnelton, Roger Jefferys II, of Morgantown, Benjamin Jefferys, of Morgantown, Zane Jefferys, of Kingwood, and Brianne Jefferys, of Kingwood; and six great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Jefferys, Zachary Jefferys, Annalise Jefferys, Emma Jefferys, Eric Jefferys and Elih Bolyard.
In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ellen (Bolyard) Jefferys, in 2011, and one grandson, James Cody Jefferys.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 and from 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, until the service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Shay’s Chapel Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
