Nina Mae Stevens, 83, of Reedsville, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at Windy Hill Village.
Nina was born in Independence, on Jan. 21, 1938, a daughter of the late Archie Matthew and Lila (Turner) Kerns.
She was a loving mother and doting grandmother who brought happiness to people in her life. She attended the Reedsville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed many arts and crafts which included painting and teaching ceramics, applique quilting and sewing. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making her own clothing. She volunteered in many different organizations, including as a leader in the Girl Scouts of America, a founding member of the East Hardy High School Band Boosters and its first president, a member of the Extension Homemakers Club and later the Community and Educational Outreach Service Club, a member of the Lioness auxiliary program of Lions Clubs International and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Capon Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
Nina is survived by two daughters, Nanette “Nan” Stevens and husband Karl J. Keller, of Martinsburg, and Kelly Sue Funkhouser and husband Dennis, of Reedsville; a grandson, Todd Funkhouser; a brother, R. Gene Matthew, of Belington; many nieces and nephews; and special family friend and caregiver, Mary Pierson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Leroy Paul Stevens; a brother, Marvin L. Matthew; and a sister, Shirley A. Williams.
Friends and family may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown from 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 until the 1 p.m. service time with Pastor Robert Sisler officiating. Interment will follow in the Arthurdale Cemetery.
Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests, whose health allows, are to wear a mask.
