Former correctional officer admits to sexual abuse of an inmate

CLARKSBURG — Scott Douglas Born, a former correctional officer at Federal Correctional Institution Hazelton’s Female Facility, has admitted to the sexual abuse of an inmate, U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Born, 33, of Bruceton Mills,  pleaded guilty Monday to one count of sexual abuse of a ward. Born admitted to accepting oral sex from an inmate at the secure female facility from September 2018 to January 2019. Born faces up to 15 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. 

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Department of Justice Office of Inspector General investigated. U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
