Thomas Arthur Poling, 83, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Sunday, Jan. 9, 1938, in Morgantown. A son of the late Arthur Wade Poling and Margaret Powell Poling.
Mr. Poling was a member of the Civil Air Patrol while in high school. He was also a member of the Dunkard Grange #2045. Thomas was a “Jack of all trades, master of none.” He loved tearing things apart and then putting them back together. He worked for Ervin Auto Body, formerly Morgantown Auto Body, until his retirement in 2013 because of his ill health.
His wife, Janet Matthew Poling, whom he married Oct. 7, 1984, died July 12, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Christie (Bruce) Lemasters Hedrick, of Carmichaels, Pa., and Terri Poling, of Mount Morris, Pa.; one son, Michael D. Poling, of Nemacolin, Pa.; four grandchildren, Matthew Hedrick, Sierra Hedrick, Mike D. Poling and Cordale R. Poling; three great-grandchildren; one sister: Alethea Tackett, of Weeki Wachee, Fla.; one brother, Byron Poling, of Morgantown; two stepbrothers; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two stepsisters and one nephew.
Friends will be received in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director, 324 Mount Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mount Morris, Pa., 15349, from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, where private services will be conducted with the Rev. Jacob Judy officiating. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Davistown, Pa. While in the funeral home, masks must be worn and social distancing will be required. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home to help with cost.
