James V. Jones Jr., 79, a former resident of Morgantown, and son of the late James V. Jones Sr. and Mary Holmes Jones, died on Jan. 24,2021, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
Jim gave 32 years of service to the federal government, most of which was with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice. His former duty stations included: NTS Washington, D.C., NYC Morgantown; FCI Lewisburg, Pa.; FCI Terre Haute, Ind.; FCI Petersburg, Va.; and FCI Memphis, Tenn. He retired as Chief of Budget Execution of the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. There his accomplishments included the introduction of FMIS budgeting module in the Bureau of Prisons, mastering the system to the point that the Department of Justice recognized the Bureau of Prisons for having one of the finest budgeting systems in the department.
He was even tempered and kind to everyone he met, but, most of all, Jim loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian. He was dedicated to his family, which he loved very much. Jim leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Julia Frazier Jones; two daughters, Julie Lynch (Danny Lynch) and Jamie Smith (Steve Smith); four grandsons, Weston Lynch, Joshua Dunston (Kristi), Aaron Lynch and Jacob Dunston (Taylor); and three great-granddaughters, Peighton and Brennan Lynch and Harper Dunston. We are deeply saddened by his departure; however, we will cherish our memories we have of him.
