West Virginia Caring is kicking off its 12th annual Have a Heart campaign to increase awareness and raise money for patient care.
This year, the campaign was expanded to include a new virtual version of the campaign for those who want to honor, show their support, or to send to someone that could use a little love in their life during this ongoing pandemic.
West Virginia Caring is looking for businesses, individuals and organizations who would like to support its local, nonprofit hospice. The campaign will run through February.
The goal for this year’s campaign is $10,000, which benefits patient care for West Virginia Caring. All proceeds raised will cover local patients who do not have insurance or the ability to pay for end-of-life services.
Have a Heart is supported by local businesses, individuals and organizations. Even though this campaign looks like a national in-store campaign, all the money raised stays in the area.
“By supporting local businesses, we are strengthening our local economic base and investing in the lives of those who need our help,” said Cynthia Woodyard, vice president of public affairs for West Virginia Caring. “It’s the right thing to do, especially now during the pandemic.”
Here is how it works. You can support West Virginia Caring’s mission through a sponsorship or allow your customers to donate $1 or more and honor their loved ones on hearts displayed in your business. West Virginia Caring provides the materials free.
Look for the online campaign on social media and West Virginia Caring’s website, wvcaring.org. Individuals can donate and send a heart to those in their life or anyone to be honored on the virtual Hearts Tribute wall. A special email message will be sent to recipients letting them know a donation was made in their name. All contributions are tax deductible.
