Sylvia Margaret Bolyard, 94, of Masontown, W.Va. took the hand of Jesus on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at her home with her loving family by her side. Sylvia was born on Jan. 9, 1927, in Masontown, W.Va., a daughter of the late George R. Shaffer and Darley B. Johnson Shaffer.
Sylvia was married on July 11, 1945, to her late husband, Lewis Dallas Bolyard, for 43 years.
Sylvia was in the Class of 1945 at Masontown High School.
Sylvia worked at the Campus Lunch, in Morgantown, worked on the assembly line in Arthurdale, making walkie-talkies for World War II, Pittsburgh Valve, United States Census Bureau, Morgan Shirt Factory and Pineview Bowling Lanes.
Sylvia has been a member of Sturgiss Chapel United Methodist Church since 1964 where she loved serving the Lord in many positions such as youth leader, vacation bible school coordinator, parish secretary, and treasurer for several years. She was also very active in fundraising to build the new church.
Sylvia was an active Lifetime Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #1589 where she held many leadership positions.
Sylvia also loved serving as a Midway Getters 4-H leader, and a member of the Masontown Senior Citizens.
Sylvia is survived by one daughter, Sharon Lynn Bolyard Everetts, of Morgantown; two sons, Lewis Stanley Bolyard (partner Barbara Lake), of Swanton, Md., and Bradley Dallas Bolyard (wife Bonnie), of Kingwood; one sister, Martha Jane Wolfe (husband Charles), of Barrackville, one sister-in-law, Eva Shaffer, of Kingwood, grandchildren, Angelica Everetts, Christiana Everetts, Tammy Crider, Jennifer Tanner, Timothy Bolyard, Cindy Bolyard, Samantha Puccio and Brandon Bolyard; great-grandchildren, Kathryn Crider, Austin Crider, Allision DeGasperin, Clayton DeGasperin, Kyley Tanner, Rylee Bolyard and Olivia Bolyard; and many very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband and brother, George Albert Shaffer.
Sylvia’s last request was for everyone to know that she loves them.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 3-7 p.m. Monday Jan. 18, 2021. Friends may then call at the Sturgiss Chapel United Methodist Church 1861 Snake Hill Road, Masontown, W.Va. from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Sean Wightman officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery. In accordance with CDC and state COVID-19 guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed. They also ask that time in the funeral home be limited to 15 minutes.
