Nathan Loye McDaniel, 79, of Newburg, passed away at his residence with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020. He was born July 18, 1941, in Newburg, son of the late Nathan Henry and Clarice J Loughrie McDaniel.
Nathan graduated from Newburg High School Class of 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1959-1962. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for several companies. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and was a World War II history buff.
Nathan is survived by his wife, Judith Joanne Castle McDaniel, whom he married on May 5, 1963; five children, Robin Davis and Jimmy, of Rowlesburg, Tracy Taylor and companion Gary Pell, of Thornton, Eric McDaniel and Lisa, of Memphis, Tenn., Ashley McDaniel and companion, Josh Metz, of Morgantown, and Andrea McDaniel and companion Lloyd Ford, of Morgantown; seven grandchildren, Logan Davis, Emily Sisler and Richard, Jesse Davis, Trevor McDaniel, Zane Taylor, Chelsea Taylor and Audrey McDaniel; one great-grandchild, Mason Sisler; one sister, Mary Lou Wolfe, of Newburg; one brother, Fred D. McDaniel and wife Nancy, of Philippi; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Lester Pratt, of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Nathan was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas J. and wife Madeline McDaniel, Charles G. and wife Josephine McDaniel and Adam “Skip” Franklin and wife Linda McDaniel; two sisters, Eloise and husband Woodrow Wilt and Nancy Minton; and two brothers-in-law, James “Bud” Wolfe and Kenny Castle.
Per his request he will be cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Bolyard Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the McDaniel family.
