MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia made it a point to keep the state’s best talent at home and the Mountaineers have done it once again by adding Spring Valley 2022 athlete Corbin Page.
Page, at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, collected offers from Tennessee, Oregon, Virginia Tech and a number of others, but the Mountaineers formally jumped into the picture in the fall with a scholarship offer. Things picked up from there, as the program cemented the top spot in his recruitment.
The Rivals.com 3-star prospect is the only player in the state in the 2022 class who the Mountaineers already offered and is almost assuredly a lock to be sitting at the top of the state’s rankings.
It continues a trend over the last three classes, since head coach Neal Brown assumed the role of head coach of the Mountaineers, of keeping the top-rated player in state. The previous two were Bluefield defensive end Sean Martin in the 2020 cycle and Spring Valley offensive tackle Wyatt Milum last year.
The talented two-way prospect was recruited by offensive line coach Matt Moore, along with tight ends coach Travis Trickett. He had visited campus for a game prior to the start of the dead period last year and was highly impressed with what he saw out of the program.
Page could play either side of the ball for WVU in the college level and is being recruited as an athlete with the ability to move around with his versatility. A big, strong option, Page is equipped with plus athleticism on the offensive side and was a second-team all-state selection this past year on defense.
Page becomes the first commitment for WVU in the 2022 class, kicking off the next cycle only a few days short of when the program put a bow on the 2021 early signing period.
The commitment also continues a budding pipeline into the Spring Valley program with the aforementioned Milum and the recent transfer of former Virginia Tech offensive lineman Doug Nester.
It’s important to keep the best at home and that’s exactly what West Virginia is doing.
