Chineta Mauney

Chineta Elaine Mauney, 89, of Morgantown went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020.

She was born in Shelby, N.C., on July 28, 1931, to the late William Howell and Allie Roberts Howell.

Chineta graduated from Washington High School. She was a nursing assistant for many years at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. She was a loving, caring, giving and spirit-filled lady who enjoyed taking care of her family members.

She always had a smile on her face and gave a lot of encouraging words that were full of wisdom. Her favorite food was barbecue baby back ribs and bacon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Walter D.T. Mauney; sons the Rev. Dr. T.D. Mauney, and the Rev. Dr. Marcus T. Mauney Sr.; and siblings, William Howell, John Howell, Elivia Howell, Juanita Howell and Dennis Howell.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother Hillard Howell (Doris), of Waco, N.C.; daughters-in-law, Evangelist Angela N. Mauney, of Morgantown, Elder Pearl Mauney, of Greenville, S.C., and the Rev. Doris Patterson, of Greenwood, S.C.; and 11 grandkids, 10 great-grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

Following a private visitation for her immediate family, Mrs. Mauney will be laid to rest beside her son, Marcus, in the East Oak Grove Cemetery.

Smith Funeral & Cremation Care of Westover/Morgantown is privileged to care for her family.
