Robert Pride

Robert Maynard “Bobby” Pride, 74, of Star City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born April 19, 1946, in Morgantown, a son of the late Dr. Maynard Prince Pride and Frances Barnes Pride.

He was a graduate of Morgantown High School, retired from Chico Dairy Company and was also a member of the West Virginia National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was actively involved in his church, Star City Christian Assembly.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 47 years, Samuella “Sammie” Ferrise Pride; his children, Marsha Pride, of Orlando, Fla., and Robert I. Pride, of Star City; a grandson, Eric Bethea Jr., of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Jack Pride, of Franklin Tenn.; sisters, Janet (Keith) Anderson, of Charlotte, N.C., Amy Pride-McNutt, of Morgantown, and Heidi (Mark) Mallory, of North Hollywood, Calif.; stepmother, Carol Sue Pride, of Morgantown; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Matilda Prete Ferrise.

Visitation will be at Dering-Henson Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 until the 1 p.m. service hour with Pastor Bob Gidley officiating. Burial will follow in the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. Due to the current pandemic, all visitors are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
