KINGWOOD -— Kingwood water customers could be facing a 10 1/2% increase in their bills.
Clerk Amy DeBerry said due to computer issues documents concerning the proposed increase will not be available for discussion until the next meeting of the Kingwood Water Board.
No further action was taken.
According to the City of Kingwood, the current minimum water rates per month are:
- 5/8-inch meter or less, $21.66;
- 3/4-inch meter, $32.49;
- 1-inch meter, $54.15,
- 1 1/2-inch meter, $108.30;
- 2-inch meter, $173.28;
- 3-inch meter, $346.56;
- 4-inch meter, $541.50;
- 6-inch meter, $1,083;
- 8-inch meter, $1,732.80.
For customers with metered water supplies, the first 5,000 gallons is $10.83 per 1,000 gallons, the next 35,000 gallons is $7.83 per 1,000 gallons, and all amounts over 40,000 gallons are $6.96 per 1,000 gallons.
Current rates for Public Service District 2 customers are 5/8-inch meter or less, $24 per month; 3/4 inch-meter, $36 per month; one-inch meter, $60 per month; 1 1/2 inch meter, $120 per month; and two-inch meter, $192 month.
For customers with metered water supplies, the first 3,000 gallons is $12 per 1,000 gallons, the next 3,000 gallons is $11.59 per 1,000 gallons, the next 4,000 gallons is $11.18 per 1,000 gallons, the next 10,000 gallons is $10.63 per 1,000 gallons, and all amounts over 20,000 gallons is $10.09 per 1,000 gallons.
The city has not raised water rates in seven years.
In other business Tuesday board members:
- approved the hiring of Terri Bolyard to replace Monnie Jo Gribble who recently resigned.
- approved a one-time pay adjustment of $250 for full-time employees and $125 for part-time employees.
- approved leak adjustments for Joyce Harrison, Troy Helmick, William Armstrong, Wesley United Methodist Church, J&J Choice and Kathy Whetsell.
- announced Kingwood city offices will be closed Nov. 26-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
