Edward “Eddie” Thomas White, 76, of Dellslow passed away at the Mon Health Medical Center on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, with his loving family by his side. He was born May 1, 1944, at home in Greer, the son of the late Glen F. and Mary (Metz) White.
Eddie was a lifetime truck driver, owning his own trucking company. He loved NASCAR and was an avid Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Steeler football fan. His greatest happiness was hunting with his beloved son Brian in Canaan Valley.
Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on Aug. 21, 1964. He was the previous Commander of Post 174 of the American Legion, which he helped establish and maintain for 40 years.
Edward is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathy (Mayfield) White; one son, Brian White and his wife April; his precious granddaughter Chloe (Button); his three precious rescue Yorkie fur babies Missy, Molly and Mikey, which he was partial to; sister, Connie Tharp, of Reedsville; brothers-in-law Alpha and Gary Mayfield; sister-in-law Glendora White; several nieces and nephews; and several special friends that helped keep Eddie’s spirits up.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother, Ronnie, who he missed daily.
Edward’s wishes for cremation have been honored by the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date by the family.
