Lonnie Junior Lewis, 78, of Morgantown, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Mon Health Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 29, 1942, in Hookersville (Nicholas County), a son of the late John Thomas Lewis and Melcina Cook Lewis.
Lonnie was a coal miner and worked many years at the Bethlehem Steel Marianna Mine #58, and retired from Emerald Mine. He was a proud member UMWA. In his spare time, he enjoyed raccoon hunting, fishing, and camping. Lonnie was a family man and cherished visiting Raccoon Creek State Park with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elmira “Marcie” Lewis; son, Lonnie Lewis and wife Denise, of Rices Landing, Pa.; daughter, Rachel McDonald and husband Jerry, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Nick Lewis and Trevor McDonald; step-granddaughter, Lana Lenhart; one brother and one sister; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Barbara Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to McCulla Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses. COVID-19 policies of masks and social distancing will be enforced.
