Welcome to the inaugural episode of The Outpost, the Applachian-centric podcast part of the Dominion Post network based in Morgantown, W.Va.!

In the very first episode, Andrew dives into West Virginia’s own setter breed, the Old Hemlock Setter. A bloodline bred by the famous author, artist and bird hunter George Bird Evans, Andrew discusses with his former colleague and good friend, David Schlake, what it’s like owning one of these highly sought after bird dogs.

The two also discuss how David’s dog, Sage, handles western hunting since her bloodline was bred to point primarily woodcock and ruffed grouse, upcoming hunts – including one they’re going on together – and more.
