Richard ” Dick” Francis Salisbury Sr., 86, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Oct. 20 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Dick was born in Preston County on March 19, 1934, the son of the late Lawrence Wallace Salisbury and the late Edith Miller Salisbury.
Dick worked at Consol where he was a coal miner for 33 years. He enjoyed camping, hunting and gardening in his spare time.
Dick is survived by four sons, Richard Salisbury Jr. and his wife Beverly, Steve Salisbury and his wife Roxie, Timothy Salisbury and his wife Rhonda and Carl Shell and Judy, all from Morgantown; one daughter, Tammy Warnick, of Morgantown; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Cole, from Kingwood; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Salisbury; daughter, Cindy Jeffrey; son, Jeffrey Shell; two brothers, Wallace and Marvin Salisbury; one sister, Marge Templeton; son-in-law, Jeffrey Warnick; and one granddaughter, Melody Warnick.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery, Sunset Beach Road, Morgantown, where a graveside service will be held with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
