Merle Virginia Nice, 96, of Terra Alta, died Friday Aug. 21, 2020, at home.
She was born Aug. 16, 1924, on Salt Lick, the daughter of the late Albert Wallace and Virginia Elizabeth Myers Lantz.
Merle was a member of the Amboy United Methodist Church; and a life member of the Aurora-Terra Alta VFW Aux# 578. She retired from Hopemont Hospital and worked with the Terra Alta Ambulance Auxiliary too. She was the Terra Alta Civic Clubs Oldest Lady for three years.
She is survived by a son, Ernest Leroy (Kathy) Nice, of Terra Alta; a daughter, Linda Darlene (Leonard) Snyder, of Terra Alta; seven grandchildren, Ernie (Jessica) Nice, Jasen (Amanda) Nice, Emily (Jason) Roy, Katie (Andy) Rodeheaver, Nikki Nice, Rebecca (Brian) Raber and Sarah (Major) Rettiq; one step-grandson, David Rick (Donna) Ramsey; 17 great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ernest L. Nice in 2007; two brothers, Washington Everett Lantz and Raymond Daily Lantz; and a sister, Mae Blanch Haught.
Family and friends will gather at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, until the 1 p.m. time of service with the Rev. J. Michael Lantz officiating. Burial will follow.
