2 charged in hotel stickup

Two Texas women were arrested after one of them allegedly robbed a man in his hotel room.

Rochelle Lynn Smith, 35, of Garland, is charged with robbery by the Granville Police Department. Jessica Marie Love, 31, of Dallas, is charged with second-degree accessory.

Smith met the victim online and wanted to meet him at the Scholar Hotel where she was staying, according to a criminal complaint.

The two instead met at Iron Horse Tavern, near the Hampton Inn where the victim was staying, the complaint said. The victim told police during his encounter with Smith she said she had a gun in her purse and demanded his money. He said gave her about $120-$140.

She left the area in a white Chevy Malibu that was later found by officers with the Morgantown Police Department, the complaint said.

Both Love and Smith were about to enter the vehicle when they were detained, the complaint said.

A gun and a “bag of drugs” with 418 Xanax pills were in plain view, according to the complaint. Two guns were found in the car.

Smith said Love was her ride to and from the Hampton Inn and the encounter with the victim happened in his room.

Both women are being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
