KINGWOOD — Electronic recycling, or ecycling, for Preston County residents will be from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Craig Civic Center in Kingwood.
Preston County Litter Officer Jay Sowers said participants are asked to enter at the Price Street entrance, across the street from Kingwood Elementary School.
He said items to be recycled must be placed in the trunk or bed of the vehicle for removal by staff. This is due to COVID-19.
According to the Preston County Solid Waste Authority Facebook page, only the following items will be accepted:
- AC adapters.
- Portable air conditioners.
- All types of batteries.
- Cell phones.
- Computers, laptops and components.
- Docking stations.
- Electrical components.
- Electrical motors.
- Film and digital cameras.
- Fans and electrical heaters.
- Gaming systems.
- Household electronics.
- Ink and toner cartridges.
- Keyboards and computer mice.
- Lawn equipment (must be free of gas and oil), both electric and battery.
- LCD monitors and TVs.
- Light ballasts. No light bulbs will be accepted.
- Microwaves.
- Medical and lab equipment.
- Networking equipment.
- Personal care items such as CPAQ, hair dryers, shavers and humidifiers.
- Power strips.
- Printers and copiers.
- Projectors.
- Radios.
- Security cameras.
- Servers.
- Shredders.
- Small household appliances such as toasters, coffee makers, can openers and blenders.
- Software.
- Stereo and video equipment.
- Telephones, both residential and business.
- Transformers.
- Two-way communication equipment.
- UPS battery backups.
- Wi-Fi equipment.
- Wire and cables.
“It’s a good program. It keeps a lot of stuff out of the landfill,” Sowers said. “I would like to see it more than once a year.”
No cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions or monitors will be accepted during the event.
