Hedy Louise Summerfield, 75, of Westminster, Md. and formerly of Rowlesburg, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, in Westminster.
She was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Baltimore, a daughter of Chalanse Harold and Hazel Pauline Shaffer Nice.
Hedy was a graduate of Rowlesburg High School, Class of 1962, worked for and retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation and enjoyed taking trips with her friends at the Westminster Senior Center. She was also active in fund raising activities and enjoyed making flower arrangement gifts for family and friends.
Hedy is survived by her daughters, Terri McCumber and husband, Edward, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Alicia Wilder and husband, David, of Westminster, Md.; five grandchildren, Corey McCumber, Carissa McCumber, Henry Smearman, Chase Rosendale and Danielle Wilder; three sisters, Emma Jean Goff, Patsy Hovatter and Lynn Likens, all of Rowlesburg; a brother, Michael Nice, of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, with Pastor Kevin Keplinger officiating.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Hedy Summerfield memory to the Westminster Senior Center Site Counsel, 125 Stoner Ave., Westminster MD 21157.
