Helen Kay “Susie” Vandergrift, 83, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Morgantown, passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. Susie was born in Arthurdale on Sept. 12, 1936, a daughter of the late Alex and Rose Vance Mayor.
Susie worked as an accountant for Montgomery Wards in Morgantown and later in Jacksonville, Fla. for many years. She was also Methodist by faith.
Susie is survived by several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Vandergrift; sisters, Julia Morris, Mary Rorobaugh and Dorothy Thompson; and brothers, Mike Mayor, George Mayor and Charles Mayor.
A graveside service will be held at East Oak Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
