Harold Adams

Harold E. Adams, 86, of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday June 2, 2020, at his home. He was born July 20, 1933, in Fairmont, the son of the late Pearl B Adams and Edith (Harr) Adams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara (Blazek) Adams.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Victoria Gianola and husband James “Rocky” Gianola, of Morgantown, Susan May, of Fairmont, and Melanie Scofield and husband Doug Scofield, of Louisville, Ky.; his dear grandchildren: Mallory (Gianola) Beccio and husband Matt, of Silver Spring, Md., Sara Ashley Gianola, of Morgantown, Brookes May and Tucker May, of Chicago, Logan Scofield and Carter Scofield, of Louisville, Ky.; and two precious great-grandsons, Luca Gianola-Viol, of Morgantown, and Aldo Beccio, of Silver Spring, Md.

Harold was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his three daughters, Sara (Bunner) Adams.

He was very fond of his many aunts, uncles and cousins of the Harr family from Canaan Valley, as well as his brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews of the Blazek family.

He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State College. Harold was employed by Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. for 36 years as a public telephone communications representative. After retiring, he and his wife Barbara spent many winters in North Fort Myers, Fla.

Harold was a member of the 201st Field Artillery of the National Guard for 10 years and proudly performed with the 249th Army Band.

He was a Catholic by faith and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus Council #942 and member of Holy Name Society of St. Anthony Church. Harold also was a life member in the Telephone Company Pioneers and belonged to Elks Lodge #294 and was previously a member of Moose Lodge #9.

Harold had an interest in golfing, hunting and boating. He had a special love of music and was a self- taught piano and trumpet player.

Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, June 5. A mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Fr. Vincent E. Joseph as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with military honors provided by the West Virginia National Honor Guard.

Due to the recent pandemic of COVID-19, the community is urged to visit within the limitations of their comfort. The family requests that visitors wear a mask if their health permits and that they follow all necessary precautions.

Pallbearers will be Chip Hawkins, Tucker May, Angelo Sabatino, Carter Scofield, Logan Scofield and Luke Voss.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1660 Mary Lou Retton Drive, Fairmont WV 26554.
