Chester Summers

Chester “Junior” Summers, 79, of Bruceton Mills, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown.
The son of the late Chester C. and Gladys Shaffer Summers, he was born Aug. 26, 1940, in Bruceton Mills.
Junior was a U.S. Army veteran, worked as a welder in the coal industry, and had attended the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren. Some of his hobbies were creating things from old parts and supplies, woodworking and reading.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Donald Ritchey, of Ellenboro, W.Va.; a nephew, Donald Ritchey, Jr., and his wife, Thelma, of Uniontown, Pa.; a nephew, Rodney Ritchey, and his children, Joseph and Julia; and a niece, Andrea Mahaney, of Ellenboro. Junior was very close to some of his extended family (cousins): Larry Summers and his wife, Karen, and their children, Teresa and Dwayne Quinn and their children, Marla and Brooke, of Bruceton Mills; Susan and Shawn Golden and their children, Mikayla and Tucker, of Uniontown; and Rhonda and Craig Rishel and their children, Courtney and Erica, of Ohiopyle, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Delma Ritchey.
A small memorial service will be held for Junior’s immediate family at the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren, 11 a.m., Friday, June 5, with Pastor Mike Bernard officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Those attending are asked to practice social distancing and to wear a mask.

Carl R. Spear Funeral Home of Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, has provided cremation services.
