Thompson pledged to make a $5 donation for each new quote during May.

Food for Preston has been helping the hungry in Preston County since 1985 by securing food, funding and volunteers for food pantries and the backpack program.
All its pantries continue to serve families in need. In the first three weeks of April, a total of 851 families were served. In comparison, 598 families received assistance in March.
To keep volunteers and clients safe, Food for Preston shifted to drive-through distribution, to-go boxes at the door and delivery to home-bound seniors while wearing masks and gloves, and maintaining distance. In addition to food pantries, it is committed to keeping the backpack program running while schools are closed.
With the help of Preston County Schools volunteer staff, backpack program students throughout the county are receiving family-sized bags of food.
Serving Preston County families and students depends on dedicated volunteers and donations from local churches, families and businesses.
“I’m thankful for everyone who is working together, while staying apart, to provide Preston County families with safe access to food during these uncertain times,” said Food for Preston Director Tammy Laney.
“I want to support Food For Preston because they are such a vital service in our county,” Thompson said. “They feed our friends and neighbors each month, and make sure students do not go hungry. Their need is higher than ever, and they are stepping up to the plate to make sure everyone is receiving food.”
