Marilla Park’s pool receives updates for upcoming season

Crews paint Marilla Park’s pool and work on the pool’s tube slide this week, as The Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation anticipates the possibility of opening in coming weeks.

In a letter, BOPARC addresses its plans to host summer camps and operate pools this season. The decision is based on Gov. Jim Justice’s statewide reopening plan, which includes the possibility of opening parks, park facilities and park programming within the next three to six weeks.

Vertitas Construction workers Luke Proctor (left to right), Rick Gyorko—foreman and owner—and Eric Nine, contracted by BOPARC, work under the tube slide to put in new concrete pads.

“Yes, there will be modifications and additional safety protocols added,” states the letter, addressed to BOPARC families. “As soon as we have additional information, we will share it with you all. For now our refund policy remains in place for all programs and family rentals.”

The letter goes on to say that “if something extraordinary happens on the negative side of COVID-19, we will contact all our camp families and renters and work through whatever issues arise.”
