David Denver DeWitt, 13, passed from this life on March 26, 2020.
Born on July 18, 2006, in Kingwood, to Dayton Dwayne and Lori Jean (Casteel) DeWitt.
David was an eighth grader at Central Preston Middle School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He previously attended Kingwood Elementary School and lived in Albright with his parents and two older brothers, Dakota and Dylan DeWitt. David loved his dogs, being outdoors, and his friends and family. He loved to make videos on YouTube, liked to draw and was a lovable boy who enjoyed making jokes.
In addition to his parents and his brothers, he is survived by his sister, Alysia DeWitt of McHenry, Md.; his grandparents, Connie DeWitt, of Albright, Gary Casteel and wife Suzanne, of Gettysburg, Pa., and Harold Brown, of Poquoson, Va.; uncles, Allen DeWitt, of Albright, David Casteel and wife, Chaelyn, of Kingwood, and aunts, Jenny Jones, of Pittsburgh, and Lydia Casteel, of Gettysburg, Pa.; numerous cousins, Corey McDonald, of Kingwood, Courtney DeWitt, of Reedsville, Kourtney (Weaver) Fountain and husband Caleb, of Poquoson, Va., Ivory Baylor, of Keyser, and Phoebe and Taylor Jones, of Pittsburgh; and his best friend, David Allen Schamberger.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Worley and Violet Miller, of Kingwood, Virgil “Spud” and Neva Menear, of Manown, Robert Cecil and Josephine Georgia (Thomas) Casteel, of Howesville; his grandparents, Dayton DeWitt, of Albright, and Drema Jean (Menear) Brown, of Kingwood; and a nephew, Trenton DeWitt.
Following a private funeral for the family officiated by the Rev. Ray Frankhouser, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the family’s dogs, Cooper, Soup, Bear, and Edgar. A memorial service will be held later. Arrangements are under the direction of Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in honor of David be made to the Preston County Humane Society, P.O. Box 395, Kingwood, WV 26537.
