Jean Marie Margaret (Stansberry) Reed, of Durham, N.C., previously of Weirton and Morgantown, born in Steubenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home in Durham, N.C. on March 22, 2020.
Jean is predeceased by her much beloved and loving husband of 37 years, Bill, and her beloved parents.
Jean is survived by her loving sisters, Sharon Wright and Eileen Johnson, of West Virginia and Rita Siegrist, of Florida, and their families; sister-in-law Robin Davis, of Raleigh, N.C. and her family; as well as Aunt Patsy (Stansberry) Hite and Uncle George (Jimmy) Stansberry, of Florida and West Virginia; and many cousins and their families.
Jeanie is grieved and lovingly remembered, not just by family, but also by numerous friends worldwide, as well as very dear neighbors close by, who Jeanie felt most blessed to know and for whom she was most grateful.
Jeanie was of strong faith, courageous and creative with an extraordinarily keen, insightful intelligence. But her true gift to all of us was her thoughtful kindness and how deeply and fiercely by which she loved. She was always there for those she loved with a sympathetic ear, shoulder to cry on, good advice and a firm and loving kick in the pants when and if needed. To Jeanie, her faith, marriage and family were everything and her commitment was total and complete. Her passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of those who love her, but we are comforted by the fact she is now joyfully with her beloved Billy, soulmate of 43 years and now for eternity and with Jesus, who she also deeply loved: “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that they are happy.”
To celebrate, give thanks for and honor Jean’s life, donations can be made to the Computer Science department of West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Disabled American Veterans, Shelter Box and Remote Area Medical.
All arrangements are being held privately.
