The bronze sculpture of Morgantown’s namesake appears to be taking his health seriously, donning a mask Wednesday morning.
Col. Zackquill Morgan came to the area in 1771, and laid claim to land along the Monongahela River in what is now Monongalia County. You can listen to Morgan’s story in the inaugural episodes of Aull About History, the local history podcast from The Dominion Post and The Aull Center.
In 2016, this statue by artist Jamie Lester was dedicated outside the Morgantown Public Safety Building on Spruce Street.
