How are you doing in these trying times?

As we all well know, these are trying times.

News of the novel coronavirus seems to be spreading even faster than the disease, and unfortunately, not all of it can be trusted.

The Dominion Post will continue to bring readers the most accurate and relevant updates regarding this illness and its wide-ranging effects on our community.

To do our part, we have given our reporters and other personnel the option to work from home, and urge our readers to heed the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, medical professionals and infectious disease experts and practice strict social distancing.

We know the CDC is now calling for the cancellation of any gathering of more than 50 people.

People are being asked to stay at home unless utterly necessary to venture out — to buy groceries, prescriptions, hygiene products or seek medical help.

Many employees are being asked to work remotely. Concerts, meetings, shows, classes and more are being canceled or postponed until safer days. Schools across the state are closed.

The Dominion Post would like to know how our readers are coping.

We would love to see your submitted photos showing how your family is braving the boredom of quarantine — ideas you’ve had to pass the time, continue to learn and focus on the positives of spending more time with loved ones.

Perhaps you’re teaching your children how to cook, or tackling complicated puzzles. Maybe you’re taking dance or exercise classes online or striking up game nights.

Whatever it is, we would love to hear from you. Your ideas may help others.

Social distancing is important. The experts agree that by self-quarantining as much as possible, we stand our best chance of weathering the public health crisis we face.

Sharing how we are doing that allows us to stay connected as a community. Gives fresh ideas to our neighbors. Shines a light on the good during these times of darkness.

We would also love to hear about the heroes in your communities — the folks offering to do grocery runs for elderly or unwell neighbors. The couple who owns a local restaurant who are packing box lunches for kids out of school.

More than ever, it’s important to recognize the helpers, as Mr. Rogers once told us to do.

So let us hear from you. Send your photos, along with stories of what your family is up to, to newsroom@dominionpost.com.

And please, stay well.
