WVDNR cancels in-person Monday and Tuesday meetings; sportsmen still asked to submit forms through mail

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources has canceled its in-person meetings on Monday and Tuesday that were established to discuss proposals to the 2020-21 hunting, trapping and fishing seasons.

The DNR announced its decision Friday night on social media.

Because hunting and fishing isn’t exclusive to one group of people, older adults and young children are at a high risk of being exposed should an attendee be carrying the virus.

Some of the proposed changes included a shortening of the ruffed grouse season, extending the spring turkey season and extending the buck and doe firearm season.

Sportsmen are still encouraged to submit their thoughts on the proposed changes, however. Those wanting to comment are asked to download the form found at the DNR’s website or on the agency’s Twitter account. The link can be found in the tweet that announced the cancellation.

Respondents are to fill the packet out and mail it in to Keith Krantz at P.O. Box 67, Elkins, West Virginia, 26241 by April 3.

An electronic form submission has not been announced.
