Mountaineer Middle and St. Francis Central Catholic School students were recognized recently by the Morgantown Lions Club.
The club held a “Journey of Peace” poster contest and students from those schools entered their work.
Taryn Sharp, 13, of Mountaineer Middle was the winner of the 2019 International Peace Poster Contest for her poster depicting the earth, a peace dove and flags of many countries.
Her poster also won the District 29-L and the Multiple District 29 contests. Her poster has been sent to Lions Club International for the next level of competition.
Merryn Twigg, of St. Francis, took second place; and Savannah Vert, Mountaineer Middle, took third.
The local Lions club also thanked Sloane Coombs, St. Francis; Maddie Antonini, Mountaineer Middle; and Jordyn Cullen, Mountaineer Middle, for their submissions.
Judges said it was not easy picking the winners.
