West Virginia gymnastics team hits the road to Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. — The West Virginia gymnastics team concludes its regular-season Big 12 at No. 1 Oklahoma, with Texas Woman’s University on Friday at 7:45 p.m. inside the Lloyd Noble Center.

Friday’s meet will air regionally on FOX Sports Oklahoma or online through the FOX Sports Go app. Links for live scores and a web stream are available at wvusports.com.

Friday’s meet marks the Mountaineers’ third straight week on the road, as well as their fourth straight week against multiple opponents. WVU is 5-3 in multi-team meets, 0-2 against ranked teams and 0-4 on the road. It also is the team’s second meeting against a Big 12 foe this season — WVU dropped its Big 12 opener at Iowa State.

“We’re really excited to be back at a Big 12 competition,” WVU coach Jason Butts said. “Oklahoma is an extremely solid team. As long as we do our job, we can look forward to getting a great road score. These guys are already seasoned travelers. They are used to it, which is great, because then you can just focus on the competition and not the travel aspect.”

“The team is excited to compete at Oklahoma because it’s great gymnastics,” Butts said. “It’s a chance for them to show off West Virginia on the national stage. Oklahoma is a great environment. They have a great home crowd, and it’s always a lot of fun to go there and compete.”

Last week, West Virginia finished in second place at New Hampshire’s quad meet.
