Mild temperatures will give way to rain, cold, maybe snow by Friday

Punxsutawney Phil didn’t necessarily say anything about umbrellas Sunday — but you still might want to have one around this week. And bring a jacket, too.

That’s because temperatures for the rest of the week will be prone to meteorological mood swings.

There’s even a chance of snow on Friday.

Blame it on three distinct storm systems that are currently brewing and taking aim at the Appalachians and north-central West Virginia, AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.

Look for a high of 60 today, with a chance of rain.

A cold front Wednesday will drop the mercury 20 degrees — with those persistent raindrops still hanging around.

Thursday also has the likelihood of rain, the meteorologist said, but there will be another thermometer-rebound, with highs bouncing back to 62.

Things might get a little wintry on Friday however, with those raindrops turning to snowflakes, courtesy of the day’s expected high of 36.

Temperatures will park in the low 40s for the weekend, Sosnowski said.
