As part of its ongoing efforts to provide the best local news coverage, The Dominion Post is pleased to announce some changes in our newsroom.
Lindsey Fleming will serve as news editor, working with photographers and reporters throughout the week to make sure each day’s paper brings you the latest breaking stories, as well as coverage of local government, community events, school programs and court proceedings.
Lindsey is a Parkersburg native and 2007 graduate of WVU, with a bachelor’s in news editorial journalism. She started with The Dominion Post in 2007 as an intern and has worked as a copy editor, WVU reporter, multimedia team member and coordinator of entertainment coverage. Some of her most memorable interviews have been with Maya Angelou, Joan Rivers and David Crosby.
Katie McDowell has been named our new enterprise editor and will work with reporters and photographers on the long-term assignments that will shore up our Sunday editions, as well as our daily coverage.
Katie will come up with ideas and make assignments for harder news topics, along with more in-depth stories and multi-part story series.
An Army brat, Katie lived in several states and in Germany growing up, but considers the Washington, D.C., area home. She transplanted to Morgantown in the 90s to attend WVU, receiving a bachelor’s in English and attending graduate school for news editorial journalism. Since 2001, she’s worn many hats at The Dominion Post, including that of crime reporter, copy editor, lifestyles and entertainment writer, food writer and multimedia team member.
She also writes a lifestyles column on Sundays.
“Katie and Lindsey have worked hard for The Dominion Post. They have the experience and knowledge to bring more and better news and feature stories to our community newspaper,” Editor Pam Queen said. “Publisher David Raese and I are excited to see the results as these two work more closely with reporters to tell the stories our readers want to read and provide the important information they need to know.”
