West Virginia Division of Highways District 4 inspector Bobby Shaw (right) looks at the Interstate 79 overpass from Halleck Road on Tuesday, along with inspector David Hinkle (left).
The overpass has long been a cause for concern with area residents, due to its crumbling seams and supports. Metal I-beam braces were installed in spots to add support more than a year ago.
In November, DOH District 4 engineer Darby Clayton attended a Monongalia County Commission meeting, when he assured that the overpass project was being developed for repairs.
