ARTHURDALE — Jazz and Appalachian bands will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Arthurdale Heritage Center Hall to benefit Food For Preston.
School Stores of Preston County, Arthurdale Heritage Inc. and Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area (AFNHA) AmeriCorps are presenting the concert to provide children in the community with new winter clothing, according to AFNHA AmeriCorps member Lauren Griffin.
Admission will be an item of winter clothing or a monetary donation. The drive will benefit students in grades K-12, so winter clothing of all sizes will be appreciated. Donations for the school store or pantry are also welcome.
Entertainment for the benefit will be provided by the High Street Jazz Band and the Appalachian Sound Syndicate.
Pies and Pints will provide food, and $3 beer will be provided by Chestnut Brew Works of Morgantown and High Ground Brewing from Terra Alta.
School Stores of Preston County is a volunteer-run program in partnership with Food for Preston and Preston County Schools.
The program aims to provide local school children with basic needs such as food, hygiene, clothes, school supplies and more.
